22 March Sports Day at ISLQ  – Sean and Jess both took part in all the sport activities

24 March – ISLQ Dinner Dance where Sean played “The Entertainer” on the piano and Morgan did a Jazz Dance
24 April had the Easter Bunny visiting us again 🙂
Check the loot

28 April, Sean had moved to the Doha English Speaking School for the 3rd term, and as a British Consulate school they celebrated the Royal Wedding with a parade of Home made Hats, Sean won the hat for his Class Year. His new teacher Mr Knock, keeps the kids well in hand!!
During April we also acquired two new family members, Biene a Miniature Pincher and King Triton who looks a bit Siamese but is not, King T likes to swipe Biene every now and then to show who is King!

17 May, Jessica performed in her school stage show, she was a member of the sun that had to stop shining so brightly so that people could survive on earth.  The Unit of Inquiry was on different cultural stories and their meanings. The story they did was from New Zealand.

18 – 23 May saw us heading off to Vienna for a bit of culture, music, history, grass, trees and flowers. We had a wonderful few days there and a very special 20th Wedding Anniversary spent with the whole family.

28 May, the kids performed in the Perform Drama Groups, with Improv skits and songs from Oliver, we were very proud of their performances and they loved the drama groups which they attended every Friday morning since January.

This is their gorgeous teacher Sam

In between all these events, Sean did his first piano and violin recitals for the Qatar Music Academy and was excellent in each.  Our little budding musician.

7 June – Jess shared her work for the year with us in her Student Led Conference.  Each student takes their parents through every piece of work that they have done for the year and explains what they have learnt from each.   Jess loved explaining each piece, she spoke with confidence and knowledge of each unit of inquiry.  We were so very proud of her achievements for the year and just how much she has developed.

8 June – ISLQ Book week.  The week is spent reading books, meeting authors and parents buying far too many books from vendors!!  They also have a dress up day where they dress as their favorite character from a book. Jess went as Lucy from Narnia

You gotta love teachers with a sense of humour, her teacher is the blind mouse on the left
15 June – Eclipse, this is us watching the eclipse, a first for the kids to experience

As Jessica never gets to spend her birthday in Qatar with her friends we decided to celebrate at school and both the kids helped bake and decorate her cupcakes which the class thoroughly enjoyed munching down

23 June – the first every Qatar Music Academy Concert where Sean sang part of the Abba Song – Thank you for the music as a solo.   The performances were all excellent and each student received a certificate of attendance. They receive their reports next week and we wait in anticipation for both the music and the school end of year reports.

24 June – Our special treat in bed made by the kids, they worked together so well and are looking forward to their Summer break in Wintery South AFrica
And that is us, until we meet again in July.
